The community was in for a treat on Saturday evening if they chose
to attend the Zion Lutheran School Fall Fest. The November 12th evening event
included a meal catered by Peggy's place with smoked pork, baked
beans, and coleslaw. For dessert, an Apple Taco was available for an
additional cost.
Around the parameters of the school gymnasium, there were games set
up for the youngsters and some who were young at heart. The safe
play areas allowed kids to roam around on their own while parents
enjoyed sitting with friends, neighbors, and family, visiting and
catching up with one another.
One popular attraction for youngsters was the modified version of
musical chairs. The "musical" chairs were all numbered to shorten
each game round. A number was drawn to choose the "leader," and all
the children followed the leader around the circle of chairs, doing
what the leader did.

When the music stopped, the
leader drew a number out of the bowl, and the child sitting in
that chair was permitted to choose a sweet treat from the table
of sweet prizes, including candies, cookies, and cupcakes.
The Podbelsek family provided a lovely backdrop for
taking family photos.
Capping off the night was a live auction with auctioneer Mike Maske
calling in the bids for a wide variety of beautiful cakes that would
have to have been delightful if they were half as tasty as they were
visually impressive.
