A tree-lighting ceremony will conclude the Lincoln Memorial Foundation’s 35th annual Light Up a Life campaign on Tuesday, Dec. 13.

The ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. in front of the hospital, followed by a grab-and-go soup supper. Pre-portioned containers of chicken noodle soup or chili will be available for patrons to carry out and enjoy at home.

Each year, thousands of individuals and groups are celebrated through the Light Up a Life campaign, which invites the community to honor those living, remember those who have passed away or show appreciation for health care professionals. Last year, more than 500 families paid tribute to more than 2,000 individuals, raising more than $31,000 to support local health initiatives in Logan and Mason counties.

“The holiday season is a special time when we celebrate with loved ones as well as honor the memories of those gone before. The Light Up a Life campaign provides a wonderful opportunity to support local health care by paying tribute to those who have and will continue to show us the way,” said Rylie Sloan, executive director of the Lincoln Memorial Foundation.

The public is invited to support local health care through the Light Up a Life campaign by making a gift and submitting a list of tribute names between now and Dec. 13. The suggested donation of $10 per name may be designated to buy medical equipment, fund scholarships for students pursuing careers in health care, support Memorial Home Hospice, fund the work of the LMH Community Health Collaborative or provide general support for future projects at Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Forms are available at the hospital or by visiting memorial.health/lmf. Donors may mail Light Up a Life gifts to the Foundation office, 200 Stahlhut Drive, Lincoln, IL 62656. Names received by Dec. 13 will be included in the local news publications on Dec. 23.
