In her ongoing effort to foster open dialogue between
local law enforcement officials and state’s attorneys regarding
issues impacting their professions and public safety, State Senator
Sally Turner (R-Beason) hosted a Law Enforcement Advisory Council
meeting on September 28 at her district office in Lincoln.
Sen. Turner’s Law Enforcement Advisory Council is comprised of
state’s attorneys and law enforcement officials from county and
municipal police departments from throughout the 44th Senate
District. Additionally, Illinois Sheriffs’ Association Executive
Director Jim Kaitschuk, was in attendance to discuss ongoing
concerns regarding the SAFE-T Act’s implementation set to take
effect on January 1, 2023.
“I am grateful for the men and women of our law enforcement as well
as the state’s attorneys who tirelessly work together to keep our
communities safe,” said Sen. Turner. “It’s no secret that being a
member of the law enforcement community has become more difficult
within our state over the last few years. As a State Senator, it is
important to hear directly from our police and state prosecutors
about the real-world issues that they encounter while performing
their daily duties. Their honest input is vital to ensuring that I
represent the public’s best interest while I am in Springfield.”
