Walker Allen Mount Pulaski High School October Senior of the Month

Walker Allen, son of Lori and Ralph Allen of Mt Pulaski, has been named October-Senior-of-the-month at Mount Pulaski High School. He was selected for this honor based on the criteria of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

During his time at MPHS, Walker has been a member of FFA for 4 years, currently serving as Vice President. He also participates in the Agronomy team, Meats Judging team, Livestock Judging team, Parliamentary procedure team, Horse Judging team, and the Ag Mechanics team through FFA. He has participated in Wrestling for 3 years, Basketball, Baseball, and NHS for 2 years, and Track for 1 year.

Outside of school Walker is a Worship Team Leader at Prairieland Christian Church. He also is a VBS group leader each summer. He has done work camp community improvement projects in Hartsburg, IL. Walker also performs locally at 2nd Fridays, Fall Fest, and was an Illinois Association of County Fair Talent Show performer. He also works for Illinois Central Ag and on the Allen Family Farm.

Walker has been on Honor Roll consistently the past 3 years. He has received numerous awards and recognitions through FFA, including Illinois State FFA Talent performer, National FFA Talent performer (Top 10), Top Parliamentary Procedure Chairman, Section 14 winner of Supervised Ag Experience Record Book-Beef Production and Ag Mechanics/Design and Fabrication, Section 14 winner Ag Mechanics team-Surveying, Top 10 individual Section 14 Livestock Judging team, FFA Creed Speaker, Greenhand Degree, and Chapter degree.

Walker plans to attend college and possibly pursue a career in Agriculture Education.

The Senior-of-the-Month program is sponsored by Conaway Handyman Service and Downing, Przykopanski, Clements, & May Insurance Agency, Inc. They are also in the running for the $500 Senior-of-the-Year award sponsored by INB.
