The GFWC Lincoln Woman’s Club recently held a workday
for one of its annual projects, Operation Santa. Operation Santa of
Central Illinois sends active-duty overseas service members large
stockings filled with gifts at Christmas time.
Stations were set up for members to cut, sew, and iron over 200
stockings, and to write 600 greetings on holiday cards. The club
also collected numerous requested items including a variety of
snacks, beverage mix packets, black crew socks, game books and DVDs,
and hygiene products. Several community members participated as well
by dropping off stocking stuffers, material, and monetary
contributions to help cover shipping costs.
Sue Beaver, chairman and organizer of this event for many years, has
arranged for delivery of all items to the Operation Santa warehouse
in Bloomington where the stockings will be assembled and sealed for
shipment to our troops in time for the holidays.

There is still time to contribute to help pay for the shipping
costs of the stockings. Donations may be sent to Lincoln Woman’s Club, PO Box
43, Lincoln IL, 62656. Lincoln Woman’s Club is grateful for community and club
member support of Operation Santa.
