Today, the pink shirt pictures in Lincoln Daily News feature two groups of local hospitality workers. The staff from the Hampton Inn and the Comfort Inn and Suites are connected by mutual ownership of their respective motels.

At LDN, we were careful about positioning the pictures because one of the American Cancer Society Breast Cancer Awareness signs they hold says "Fighting Cancer Together," and the other completes the sentiment with the words 'No one should fight alone."

In addition, there is a second, more subtle message. Readers should note that in the center of the photo on the left, a young woman wears a shirt that says, "Check your Boobs. Mine tried to kill me." Yes, she is a survivor, and we are so happy for her. And she sends you a powerful message. Self-exams could save your life, so don't be negligent. Once a month, every month, do that self-exam.

On Friday afternoon, guests enjoyed a fun time at the ribbon cutting and open house of Prairie Title Company in Lincoln. Inside the office building, formerly known as Logan County Title, is a large walk-in vault or safe. The vault was adorned with spooky Halloween decorations for the open house to help set the mood of the season.

Guest enjoyed the ribbon cutting, great food from Flossie and Delzena's, and fun times inside the vault.
