Mount Pulaski Bruins Baseball Team crowned 2022 Logan County Champions

[September 07, 2022]    Mount Pulaski defeated Chester-East Lincoln 3-2 in the semifinal game on Saturday in the 2021 Logan County Baseball Tournament.

The Bruins used two pitchers, Carter Clark and Aaron Volle, who combined for a no-hitter against the Panthers. 

 

Clark tossed five innings and struck out seven batters. He walked five, while allowing two runs. Volle pitched the final two innings, allowing two walks and striking out five batters.

 

Offensively the Bruins had seven hits. 

 

Carter Clark was 3-for-3 with a run scored. Aaron Volle was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Keoni Charron was 1-for-2 with a run scored. Skyler Durst was 1-for-1 with an RBI. 

 

The Panthers tried to tie the game in the top of the seventh inning on an attempted steal of home. According to Mount Pulaski’s head coach, Troy Burgard, Bruins catcher Chase Roberts made an incredible catch on a ball up and in and made a diving tag to end the game and preserve the 3-2 win. 

 

Mount Pulaski advanced to the championship game versus Delavan on Saturday afternoon. Mount Pulaski won 10-0 over the Panthers in five innings as Aaron Volle and Chase Roberts combined for the shutout. 

 

Volle pitched three and two-thirds innings, allowing two hits and two walks. He struck out five batters. 

 

Roberts threw one and one-third innings and struck out three batters. 

 

Supplying a big part of the offense, Volle was 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and four RBIs. 

 

Austin Kretzinger was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Keoni Charron was 1-for-2 at the plate.

 

Chase Roberts walked twice and scored three times for Mount Pulaski. 

 

Wesley Bobell and Carter Clark each scored two runs for the Bruins. 

 

Braden Olson also scored a run for Mount Pulaski.

 

The 2022 Logan County Champions improved their season record to 7-3 with a sweep of the Panthers’ teams on Saturday.
