As a prelude to the larger event coming in October,
the Lincoln Christian Church hosted the Harvest of Talents Musical
Offering for World Hunger on Sunday, September 18th.
The guests who attended the presentation anticipated an afternoon of
great musical performances and were not disappointed.
The event offered various musicians, from the very young to the
young at heart. There were also notable performances from some
wonderfully gifted people who have performed for the H.O.T. in past
years.
As part of the program, a free-will offering was taken to benefit
Harvest of Talents, and the total collection came to $3,250.
Harvest of Talents for World Hunger is a special fundraising program
the church hosts annually. Throughout the year, the community has
various opportunities to support this project, where all the
proceeds go to the International Disaster Emergency Services. The
church has been hosting the H.O.T. celebrations since 1983. Over the
past 39 years, $2,660,217.85 have been raised to feed hungry people
in 27 countries worldwide.
The 39th Harvest of Talents, hosted on Saturday, October 22nd, will
be a day of shopping held at the church. All the booth and live
auction items are donated by the community including baked goods,
art, Christmas items and decor, quilts, and some amazing
hand-crafted items. The day will feature a silent auction as well as
a live auction.
Orders are currently being taken for much loved cinnamon and caramel
pecan rolls to be picked up in the early morning portion of the day.
If you are interested in placing an order, the forms are available
on Lincoln Daily News.
