 The Foster Grandparent program is a nationwide
program who places volunteers in educational settings to assist and
mentor children with exceptional needs. The program is not only
designed to help children and give classrooms extra assistance but
to also provide volunteers with a tax-free stipend to help
supplement their income while giving them a sense of purpose.
CAPCIL has hosted this program for more than 50 years and had many
dedicated volunteers during that time. On August 24th, a recognition
luncheon for the programs current volunteers was held at one of the
programs volunteer stations, Main Street Church of the Living God in
Decatur. Volunteers received certificates, program apparel and gift
bag to thank them for their years of service.

Special Recognition and congratulations went to
Shirley Jones of Macon County for 20 years of service.
The Foster Grandparent program is currently accepting applications
to fill volunteer station openings in the following counties,
Dewitt, Logan, Macon, Mason, Menard, Piatt, and Fulton Counties.
