The 4-H and Department H Sheep Show was held on
Thursday, August 3rd at the Sheep Barn at the north end of the Logan
County fairgrounds.

The show, put on by Coers Farm, began at 8 a.m.
Many young men and women brought their sheep out to be judged by
Cody Zeeck. The day began with the judging of wethers and moved into
many different varieties of sheep from there.
Jada Allspach took home the award for Champion Wether, followed by
Luke Olson with Reserve Champion.
After the wethers and general judging of the different varieties of
sheep, four individuals got to show off their sheep in a new part of
the show called the Sheep Scramble.
Unlike your traditional scramble, this event was organized to
provide kids who do not have a sheep of their own with one to
present.
Kids from Logan, Sangamon, and Menard counties were able to write an
essay explaining why they wanted a sheep and how they were going to
take care of it until the show. Of nine kids who wrote essays, four
were chosen.
The first was Shelby Heyen, whose Suffolk Breeder was sponsored by
Central IL Ag and the First National Bank in Tremont.
The second was Katie Wilson, whose Montdale Breeder was sponsored by
Watkins Seed Sales-Pioneer Seed and Rod and Pam Conklen.
The third was Ryder Conrady, whose Tunis Breeder was sponsored by 6
Pack Woodworking, Benjie Daugherty, and Don Peasley.
The fourth was Robby Benner, whose Cheviot Breeder was sponsored by
Rick and Mary Boyer and Conrady Farms, Inc.
