Pie Auction brings in money for Logan County Fairground upkeep
First Place “My Favorite Pie” brings in $2,000

[August 08, 2023]  After the Chili Cook-off on Saturday, August 6th, the annual pie auction was held in the KC Pavilion to raise money for the Logan County Fair Foundation.

This year, there were a total of thirteen entries in the “My Favorite Pie” competition.



The first pie up for bidding was Dana Oltmann’s twelfth place pecan pie, which was purchased by Richard Martin for $105.

Next up was Darlene Crider’s eleventh place blueberry pie, which was purchased by Dave Deters for $100.



Crider’s tenth place strawberry rhubarb pie was purchased by Ritchhart’s Mobile Zoo for $110. Her ninth place cherry pie was purchased by Court Conn for $125.



Hannah Crider’s eighth place cherry almond pie was purchased by Court Conn for $100.



Hannah Crider also baked a peach mango pie that was purchased for $45 by Lyle and Nancy Read’s family.



Diane McShane’s seventh place peach pear pie was purchased by Nick Bay for $125.

Rebekah Johnson’s sixth place Dutch apple pie was purchased by Dave Conrady for $150.

Carlene Carter’s fifth place nectarine pie was purchased by Kelly Tucker for $60. Carter’s fourth place pecan pie was purchased by Larry Stanfield for $300.



The third place honey almond pie was another pie Darlene Crider baked and was purchased by Kevin and Nancy Courtwright for $90.

The second place cherry pie, a third pie Carlene Carter baked, was purchased by “Nibs” for $375.



The top pie also brought in the top amount for the day. Judy Smith’s first place apple pie netted $2000 and was purchased by Court Conn, Pat Lee and Wayne Hanner.

The money raised by the pie auction helps maintain the Logan County Fairgrounds. Not only do these generous bidders help keep the fairgrounds looking nice, but they also get to enjoy some delicious pies. It is a win-win situation for all.
