[February 01, 2023]  The 2022-23 Lady Railers are quickly becoming the 217’s version of “The Fast and the Furious” with their ability to score rapidly and leave their opponents in the dust. Take Tuesday night for example. In the Apollo Conference matchup versus Mount Zion the game started ahead of its 7:30 p.m. scheduled time and upon walking into the gym on time, media and spectators were quick to notice the score was already 26-5 in the first quarter. Against a respectable Apollo Conference team, the Lady Railers jumped out to the big lead with Kloe Froebe scoring 12 points and Jenna Bowman tossing in 10 points. Piper Whiteman and Tori Geriets also had a basket apiece. Mount Zion’s standout player, Denver Anderson, scored all five of her team’s points.

By halftime the Lady Railers were up 51-12, with no one showing signs of needing a pit stop. Froebe was just conducting business as usual as she poured in 16 points in the second quarter. Whiteman, the lone sophomore on the court, was enjoying herself and she tossed in five points here. Taryn Stoltzenburg and Bowman also added buckets in the second quarter, off some pretty sweet assists by teammates. The ball movement was really smooth with flashes of brilliance in the second quarter, too, kinda like when Ludacris joined the cast in “2 Fast 2 Furious” and brought even more enthusiasm and attention to the franchise.

The second half was a bit less fast and furious, but the Lady Railers already had the win pretty much in their lane so there was no reason to overdo it. There are still some big ball games ahead. As for this one, the 62-25 victory was sweet and there will be more coming your way, just like that movie franchise. Who knew there was a “Fast X” coming out in May of 2023?!

There is one more similarity between these ladies and “The Fast and Furious” movie franchise. While the movies show the importance of cars and these gals on the court show the importance of basketball, they both show an even greater importance of family.

Back to the game, Kloe Froebe led the Lady Railers with 33 points versus Mount Zion.

Jenna Bowman tossed in 12 points for Lincoln.
