[February 06, 2023] The Lincoln Railers traveled to Charleston for a Saturday afternoon of basketball and both the JV and Varsity teams continued their winning streaks. The Varsity won by a final score of 46-40 while the JV took down the Trojans 43-26.

In the Varsity game, Lincoln trailed 15-13 at the end of the first quarter.

Payton Cook and Jake Bivin combined to score 11 points in the Railers second quarter and with the defense limiting the Trojans to just three points, the Railers jumped ahead 24-18 at the half.

The two teams had an even third quarter, proving just how crucial that second quarter was for Lincoln. At the end of the third quarter, the Railers were still in the lead, 34-28 the score.

One Railer field goal and a slew of free throws told the offensive story of the fourth quarter. With Trey Schilling sinking 5-of-6 free throws in the final minutes, the Railers were able to hold on for the 46-40 win.

Payton Cook led Lincoln with 17 points.

Lincoln improves to 22-4 on the season.

In the JV game it was Parker Graue sinking four 3s and leading the Railers with 13 points as they defeated Charleston 43-26.

Lincoln will play Mount Zion on Tuesday night in a big Apollo Conference game. The JV will tip-off at 6 p.m. and the Varsity will start at 7:30 p.m.
