Habitat for Humanity rehab house nearing completion
Dedication ceremony planned for February 11th.

[February 06, 2023]    What a difference a few months can make when the Habitat for Humanity of Logan County volunteers set their minds and hammers to making a difference in a local family's life.

On August 22, 2022, the home at 1017 Tremont in Lincoln was uninhabitable. Five months later, on January 17, 2023, it looks near move-in ready.

HFH will hold a house blessing ceremony at the address on Saturday, February 11, 2023. At the ceremony, the keys to the home will be turned over to Rylee Long and her children. The service will commence at 2:30 p.m., with an open house to follow. The community is invited to attend.

The photo from 2022 was taken weeks after it was announced that the home would be refurbished for the Long family.

Before that time, the house, which stood in total disarray, had been deemed uninhabitable by the city of Lincoln. The house had been abandoned, and no one was taking responsibility for its cleanup. The city would have had to take control of the property, and it could have been on the demolition list had it not been for HFH.

HFH and the city worked out an agreement for the property, enabling HFH to make the location available to Long and her children.

The home was placed into the capable hands of the many volunteers at HFH, and over the last five months, the house looks almost brand new. There is still some work to be done, but the HFH is confident the home will be move-in ready next month.
