My favorite pictures come from the months of October,
November and December.
Most of them are of kids or events that make me smile; mainly
because they deepen my sense of community and make my heart happy.
They give me a sense that in my little part of the world good
resides and we are passing it on to the next generation.

The annual Pink Pumpkin Fundraiser Auction for the
American Cancer Society is tomorrow (Thursday, October 6th) evening.
Some folks have been wondering if Carol Charron would be blessing us
with a gift of the special little characters she makes, and the
answer is YES, times three!
These three little dudes each come with their own personality and
theme. They will be sold separately at the live auction portion of
the night. So...you have three chances to take one with you.
Thanks to Rick and Carol Charron of Charron's Auto Repair.

This little piggy went to Trick or Treat with the
Mayor in Lincoln on Saturday morning and quickly caught the hearts
of many.
And this was only one head-turning costume that was seen at the
event. From ghosts to monsters to cute, cuddly, and funny, there was
a wide gamut of trick or treaters dressed to impress and impress
they did.

"I'm pretty, and I know it. With my brightly colored
'nails,' my Christmas-colored mane dressage, and pulling a beautiful
white carriage, who would deny it?"

After being driven through town as the 2022 Lincoln Christmas
Parade, Grand Marshals Spud Newhouse and Marsha Fernandes stopped at
the Lincoln Depot, perhaps to visit for a minute with Santa Claus.
Fernandes and Newhouse have been instrumental in providing homes for
local veterans via the Central Illinois Veteran Commission Tiny Home
project. The Logan County Tourism Bureau chose the two to be the
Grand Marshals in recognition of all they do to serve our local
veterans and the community.

Thursday evening, Santa visited with children at the Lincoln Public
Library. The beautiful Carnegie Building, with all its rich woods
and antique furnishings, made for an ideal backdrop for the ageless
Christmas icon and his guests.
The smiling faces of the Farmer girls, including the former Little
Miss Logan County Sofia, her sisters Vayda and Mabry, and their baby
brother Brigs were among those who enjoyed time with Santa.

Today, Wednesday, December 21st, Gabriel Bailey turns three years
old. Hopefully, he will spend at least a part of his special day
enjoying the pink pedal tractor his mom Sarah won for him. Sarah
purchased a raffle ticket from the Friends and Family Relay Team to
benefit the American Cancer Society at the Oasis during the Balloons
Over 66 weekend this last summer.
The drawing was held for the tractor on December 12th, and Gabriel
received his early birthday present on Monday the 19th at Central
Illinois Ag. in Atlanta.
