Railers edge Mahomet-Seymour 48-43

The Lincoln Railers were on the road Friday night and picked up an Apollo Conference win over Mahomet-Seymour. The game was a close contest throughout the evening, with Lincoln winning by a final score of 48-43.

At the end of the first quarter the Railers were on top 13-6. Jake Bivin, Payton Cook and Aidan Gowin each made 3s for the Railers in the opening quarter. Ki’on Carson tossed in four points early on.

By halftime the Railers found themselves down 24-23 to the Bulldogs. Camden Nelson drained two 3s to keep the Railers offense on track in the second quarter.

The Railers used 3s from Nelson and Trey Schilling and seven points from Cook to jump ahead of the Bulldogs in the third quarter. The Railers lead was 38-34 going into the final quarter.

The Railers put together a solid fourth quarter and held the Bulldogs in check to claim the 48-43 victory.

Payton Cook led Lincoln with 14 points. Aidan Gowin added 10 points for the Railers.

Lincoln improved to 13-3 on the season.

In the JV contest, the Railers lost a double-overtime thriller by a final score of 35-32. Karson Komnick led the team with nine points.

The Railers will play at Springfield Lanphier this afternoon. The JV game is scheduled for 1 p.m. The Varsity game will tip-off at 2:30 p.m.
