The Land of Lincoln CEO program will host “A Morning
with Young Entrepreneurs” at The Lincoln Elks on Thursday, January
12th at 7:30 am. This event offers an opportunity to hear first-hand
how the CEO program is impacting area students and local businesses.
Slated speakers include Austin Brooks, Executive Director of Midland
Institute for Entrepreneurship, Felipe Buenrostro (CEO class of
2018) and Faith Sanders (CEO class of 2022). Current students,
alumni, mentors, board members, and program investors will be in
attendance and available to answer questions.
“After nearly every business visit, the owner turns to me and says,
‘I wish I would have had this class when I was in high school!’ I
hope everyone who has wondered about the CEO program will attend
this event. CEO is a learning experience unlike any other, and it
benefits both the students and the community,” said Lisa Kuhlman,
facilitator for the class.
CEO (“Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities”) is a year-long,
experiential learning-based course, designed to utilize partnerships
in our community to provide young people an overview of business
processes and development. It is offered to all area high school
juniors and seniors as a Heartland Community College dual credit
class. Throughout the program year, students visit local businesses,
learn from guest speakers, operate a class business, write a
business plan, and, from concept to reality, build their own legal,
functioning business.
