[July 26, 2023]     Third Friday Downtown in Lincoln went off without a hitch this past Friday night. The weather was ideal with it being warm and breezy but not too hot or windy to keep people away.

The turnout for this final event was just as large as it has been with the other two events this summer, with shoulder-to-shoulder people in certain areas, while in other parts of the four streets facing the Logan County Courthouse, there was a little more breathing room.

Vendors did extremely well again this month, getting plenty of attention from visitors to the event, and the live entertainment was also well received.

The theme of the month was “Summer Vibes,” but it could easily have been “Happy Faces,” as that was what one saw almost everywhere.

The kid zone area with bouncy houses and oversized board games and a very popular corn pool sponsored by the Logan County Farm Bureau Young Leaders was busy throughout the evening.

The art fair street in front of the Lincoln Arts Institute was a popular stop for many visitors, and as usual, the lines were long where face painting and henna tattoos were offered.

The Railsplitter Antique Auto Club hosted a car show on Pulaski Street, and this month had was could easily be termed as the largest turn out of vehicles this year.

Vendors offering food and drink did well as did the local establishments such as Guest House, Spirited Republic, and Top Hat Creamery.

Overall, it was a great end to the season for the Third Friday Downtown Lincoln events. But wait… there could be one more. According to Lincoln Alderman Kevin Bateman, after everything was said and done on Friday, there was talk of whether the committee could do one more event this year in September. Bateman said nothing had been decided, but it could happen.

LDN will keep readers posted if we hear anything further.
