The city of Atlanta is taking some “giant” leaps in an effort to be the premier location for Route 66 Tourists to make a stop this summer and in the years leading up to the 100th anniversary of the Mother Road.

The American Giants Museum began as a fun conversation topic between Bill Thomas (upper left) of Atlanta and Joel Baker (top right) with the American Giants Restoration Company.  The talk over time evolved into a new American Giants Museum in the heart of Atlanta.

Add to the effort someone who understands fully how tourism and Route 66 can impact economic development. The city of Atlanta has hired former Pontiac Mayor Scott McCoy (bottom left) to lead the Atlanta Tourism program. McCoy was mayor of Pontiac from 2005 to 2009 and was part of the movement to turn Pontiac into a Central Illinois Mecca for Route 66 enthusiasts.
