Saturday June 17th was a beautiful day for Elkhart’s
Summer Fling. The Village of Elkhart, Elkhart Station General Store,
and local sponsors, hosted the event to bring the community
together, highlight area businesses, and support vendors near and
far.
There were many activities for all ages, including
several demonstrations of water ecosystems throughout the day. There
was a parade and contest for the best dressed animal, where Norman
the calf was a crowd favorite. After that was the children’s bike
parade, followed by the Kiddie Tractor Pulls hosted by Logan County
Farm Bureau Young Leaders.
Tractors lined the streets in all colors, and vendors
from as close as Lincoln to as far as Carlinville joined all the
shops along Governor Oglesby Street to share their treasures. Other
activities included train engine tours at Elkhart Grain Company,
basketball, face painting, and town wide garage sales.

Members of Elkhart Fire Department were on hand to
give fire hats to the children and had a “Stuff the Boot” for Mikah
Martin of Mt. Pulaski.
Live music later in the afternoon concluded the day.
