Community
Action Partnership of Central Illinois (CAPCIL) hosted their
Cheeseburger in Paradise fundraiser on April 22nd, 2023, at the
Lincoln Banquet Center.
The fundraiser has been quoted as “the social event of the year” by
joining a paradise theme, cheeseburgers, live music, and auction
packages. With about 260 guests in attendance, this year’s event
generated over $38,130 towards CAPCIL’s mission. Historically, this
event raises between $25,000 to $30,000 annually but the last two
events have raised the bar. “I am continually humbled by the
graciousness of our community. We are so thankful for amazing
community supporters who purchase table sponsorships and/or donate
auction items, food, and volunteer their time.” said Breann Titus,
CAPCIL’s Director of Agency Development
Guests enjoyed all you can eat cheeseburgers, yummy chicken wings,
and delicious drink specials all while listening to live music
provided by J Christopher, “The World’s Most Dangerous One-Man
Band”. The event boasted fifteen live auction packages, seventy-one
online auction items, a Big Kahuna raffle and various dream vacation
packages.
CAPCIL provides Senior Nutrition (Meals on Wheels), Senior
Transportation, Food Pantry Cooperative, LIHEAP and Weatherization,
Head Start and Early Head Start, Foster Grandparents, and the Hand
Up Project which includes Personal Development Coaching and
financial literacy classes. “One of our biggest needs right now, is
funds to provide transportation to out of town doctor appointments,
radiation, and chemotherapy treatments. We receive calls from people
in our community every day that need our help. This is one of the
areas the funding raised from Cheeseburger in Paradise will help
support.” Said Titus.
