Mason City Arlee Theater Middle Earth Day a great event

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of “Return of the King,” the third movie of the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, the Arlee hosted an all-day marathon event for mega fans of the franchise.

Sponsored by Leveldale Farms and SJB Promotions, the 12-hour marathon on Saturday, April 29 played the extended edition of all three live-action films back to back.

The concession stand offered themed snacks, and Subway delivered boxed lunches for those who ordered them.

The event brought in 65 customers, including out-of-state visitors from Kansas and Idaho! Every guest received a commemorative tankard, and various prizes were given out during the second intermission.

Many attendees chose to dress up for the event, leaving the downtown buzzing with elves, dwarves, hobbits and wizards during the scheduled intermissions.
