Atlanta Memorial Day program to feature local Veteran Joe Schaler

[May 22, 2023]   Joe Schaler will be the speaker for the Atlanta Memorial Day Program to be held Monday, May 29th at 10 a.m. on the lawn of the Atlanta Public Library.

Schaler serves as the Department of Illinois Commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He and his Board spend a great deal of time planning, fundraising and building tiny homes for veterans.

He is also a member of the Lincoln Marine Corps League 1336, American Legion Post 263 Honor Guard, Lincoln VFW Post 1756 and the 40 et 8.

Other activities that day are a sausage and pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Atlanta Fire Department, a performance by the Atlanta Community Band at 9:45 a.m., a performance by Audra's Dance Studio at 11 a.m. and pork chop & rib eye sandwiches served by Rob Polen at Route 66 Park (across from the library).

Please bring lawn chairs for the program as seating will not be provided.
