Beginning
June 2nd, law enforcement throughout Illinois will carry the Flame
of Hope nearly 1,500 miles, running through hundreds of communities
via 23 different legs (routes).
The Flame of Hope will ultimately be delivered to Bloomington-Normal
for the Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics Illinois Summer
Games on June
9th!
On June 8th, the Flame of Hope will be traveling through Logan
County along Historic Route 66 from Elkhart to Atlanta. There will
be a short stop at Old Union Cemetery where a brief memorial will be
held for retired Logan County Deputy Scott Brown at his gravesite,
before continuing with the run.

Deputy Scott Brown held a fundamental role in the Torch Run as it
passed through Logan County for many years. Law enforcement
personnel and Torch Run volunteers escort the run, and we would like
to invite you along for the ride.
If you have any questions, please email Lieutenant Michael Block,
mblock@logancountyil.gov.
