[September 01, 2023]  LINCOLN - Patricia Joan “Pat” Snyder, 88, of Lincoln, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Service:  A celebration of Pat’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Lincoln Christian Church in Lincoln.

Patricia Joan “Pat” Snyder, 88, of Lincoln, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Pat was born July 23, 1935, in rural East Lincoln, IL, the ninth of ten children born to Adam Joseph and Ella Mae (Rohrer) Snyder.

She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Eleanor M. “Mae” Pence, Ethylene G. “Peggy” White, and Betty L. Smith; four brothers, Melvin F. “Buck”, Robert A. “Bob”, Kenneth L. “Dutch”, and Clarence A. “Tony” Snyder; and two infant sisters.

Pat’s grade school years were spent at Straight Row, a rural country school, under the tutelage of Miss Agnes Dea. She was a graduate of Lincoln Community High School.

Pat was a longtime member of Lincoln Christian Church, where she founded the Harvest of Talents for World Hunger Ministry in 1984 and remained active in its leadership for 39 years. She served as a teacher and Superintendent of the Sunday School of Lincoln Christian for over 40 years and was a Deaconess for a number of years. For over 25 years, Pat served the Kuki Christian Church Mission (Imphal, India) as Forwarding Agent, then Secretary/Treasurer. She was active in the leadership of the Logan County Heart Association for a number of years. Working through the offices of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, Pat attained the office of President of the Illinois State Council in 1966-67 and remained a lifetime member.

 

In her younger years, Pat was a member of the Jr. Unit of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and a Girl Scouts volunteer. She was also a volunteer and served on the Core Development Committee of The Christian Village. Pat served her community on fund drives of various local charities. IN the historical year of 1953, Pat served as a member of the Centennial Queen’s Court as a part of the City of Lincoln’s 100th Birthday.

Pat was employed as an assistant Vice President in The Production Credit Office (now Farm Credit Services) for several years and as a Legal Secretary for the firm Miller and Miller. Her most recent employment was as an Administrative Assistant to the President and the VP of Stewardship Development of Lincoln Christian University.

During her spare time from serving on the Harvest of Talents Ministry Team and various committees of the Lincoln Christian Church and her community, she enjoyed caring for her yard and flowers. Pat also spent time with her nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Pat’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Lincoln Christian Church in Lincoln. Memorials may be made in Pat’s name to Harvest of Talents for World Hunger, Lincoln Christian Church, or Kuki Christian Church Mission (for Orphanage) in Imphal, India. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
