On Monday, August 5, the Board of Directors from the
Lincoln Women’s Club dedicated two memorial benches at Latham Park.
Those at the dedication included:
(sitting, left to right) current Women’s Club President Jan Bicknell
along with members Becky Maxwell, Ellen Dobihal and Patti Schonauer
(standing, left to right) Nancy Wrage, Carolyn Arnold, Barb Sahs,
Pam Schreiner, first vice president Susan Rohrer, Marla Williams and
second Vice President Cindy Aussieker.
The benches were donated by the Women’s Club in
memory of past presidents Mary Cooper and Sue Beaver. Mary Cooper
served as Women’s Club President from 1997-1999 and 2002-2003. Sue
Beaver served in the role of president from 2009-2012.

In addition to being longtime Women’s Club members,
Beaver and Cooper were very involved in the community. Bicknell said
both women really loved working on programs for our veterans and
active service members, especially Operation Santa. They also loved
the club’s historic building.
Current Women’s Club officer Nancy Wrage is the
daughter of Mary Cooper.
Funding for the benches came from memorial funds for Cooper and
Beaver. These benches will provide a good way to honor these special
ladies for many years to come.
