Artisans
from around the area set up displays of original art for purchase
along Broadway Street of the courthouse square featuring glasswork,
painting, drawing, woodworking, jewelry, and crochet. The Lincoln
Arts Institute gallery was also open Friday evening and Saturday for
art patrons to enjoy.
Artist Andrea Folkman, owner and creator of Gigi’s Craft Shoppe, set
up her unique jewelry and accessories at Balloons Over 66 weekend
for the first time this year. Folkman is from Mt. Pulaski and saw
the Lincoln Arts Institute’s application for the art fair on social
media. She does not have a brick and mortar establishment, so
appreciates a local opportunity to showcase her creations. She said,
“We love seeing small businesses coming out and we appreciate
community support.” Folkman reported that there was “a low turnout,
but still good.” She took advantage of slower moments and help from
her offspring to visit other artisans at their booths. “The kids
like seeing the stickers and the henna tattoos and exploring other
creative works,” she stated.
