This year, the large tree is back at the Logan County Courthouse and it is dedicated to the late Courthouse security guard Robert Rawlins. Rawlins served in the courthouse from 2014 to 2023.

While on duty at the courthouse in 2023, Rawlins suffered a heart attack and passed away.

The tree is decorated in his memory with an accompanying plaque in front of it.

Early last week the downtown business group representing small businesses in Lincoln got together with Allice McCray at the Logan County Tourism Bureau to draw the name of this year’s Christmas Express Winner.

This year 25 businesses participated in Christmas Express, donating $25 gift cards for the winner’s basket. At the drawing, the lucky winner was announced. Winning a total of $625 in gift cards was Mallory Newell.

Participating in the drawing representing the downtown businesses were Madeleine Jones of Guest House Coffee & Pastries, Julie Btes of Ink & Imprint, Kathie Williams of Small Town Creations and Colleen Roate of Spirited Republic. Pictured center is Logan County Tourism Director Alice McCray.
