BLOOMINGTON, IL – Illinois Prairie Community
Foundation (IPCF) has named its next executive director to replace
current executive director Greg Meyer, who will retire at the end of
the year.
After months of reviewing candidates for the position, the IPCF
Executive Board has approved the Search Committee’s recommendation
of Erik Rankin of Bloomington. Rankin starts his new job on Monday,
Nov. 18, and will work with Meyer until the end of the year to
ensure a smooth transition.
“As a McLean County native, Rankin has a strong passion for his
community and brings more than two decades of varied experiences in
leadership roles and relationship building within nonprofit,
education and governmental organizations,” said Laura Kowalczyk,
President of the IPCF Board of Directors. “The committee and I are
confident in Erik to lead IPCF into its next chapter of growth and
community impact.”
Throughout his career, Rankin has demonstrated a deep commitment to
community engagement and philanthropy. He has a strong track record
with strategic communications, fund development and securing major
gifts.
Rankin has taught various courses in politics and government for
many years at Illinois State University. Most recently, he served as
Cloud Delivery Administrator for Tufts Medicine. Prior to that, he
worked at ISU as Director of Enrollment Management and Undergraduate
Studies for the Department of Politics and Government, and before
that was Assistant Director of Karin Bone Athletic Study Center.
He served on the McLean County Board, representing the 9th District
for 3 terms and has authored many books or chapters of books and
holds numerous certifications.
Meyer will retire on Dec. 31 after 10 years with the community
foundation. He has led IPCF through many changes, while growing the
assets of the foundation and the increasing the number of funds
steadily each year. In retirement, he plans to spend more time with
family, in addition to volunteering, working on genealogy and taking
more classes.
