October is breast cancer awareness month, and Lincoln Daily News spends the month collecting and posting photos of area folks wearing their pink shirts in support of those who are currently warriors and also those who are survivors.

Today the featured businesses are in the downtown Lincoln area. D-Fades Barber Shop and Midwest Solutions feature three guys each.

We’ll take this opportunity to remind you fellas out there that in spite of how it is often talked about, breast cancer is not just a “lady thing.” Men can and do have breast cancer. The percentage of males diagnosed is much smaller than women, but it is still a factor worth considering.

So guys, pay attention to your bodies, and don’t assume that you cannot have breast cancer if you notice a change. Remember, early detection is key to survival so be alert and don’t be afraid to speak with your doctor if something doesn’t seem or feel right.

On Saturday there was a Touch A Truck event held at Scully Park in Lincoln. The event was organized by Tammy Bunner and Heather Martin who secured permission from the Logan County Board for park use and the City of Lincoln for street closures. Participants included local businesses and the Lincoln Fire and Police Departments.
