On Friday, October 18th, the city of Lincoln and the Lincoln Park district put on a family movie night. The event was sponsored by State Farm Agent Bryan Clark. The event kicked off at 6:00 pm at 8th Street Park. The weather was fairly nice to start, but the weather started to drop as the sun set. The advertising flier encouraged people to bring blankets, and they were certainly needed.

The movie that was set to be shown was Hocus Pocus. An inflatable screen and projector were set up. The screen was turned on, but since it was still too bright, they waited to start the movie for a while.

In the meantime, those waiting could get a drink, like a bottle of water or some soda, and a snack, like a bag of chips or some cookies. People continued to show up, setting up their chairs and blankets as the sun went down.

The event had a pretty good turnout, with at least two dozen people coming by. Some people came from as far as Mahomet and Decatur for the movie. Mayor Tracy Welch and his wife, Annette, were also in attendance.

The movie started at about 6:45 p.m. Just before they started playing it, Mayor Welch addressed those in attendance and thanked the audience for coming and those who helped put on the event. He stated that, while this is only the second family movie night Lincoln has done, it will probably be the last one this year since the weather has been dropping. He also stated that he would like to start doing these earlier next year so that they can host more of them before it gets too cold to do so.
