| Press Release: Consolidated
Election – April 1, 2025 election process proceeding election day
 [April 04, 2025]
            During the election process, we
strive toward one day that is designated as election day. Election
day is the culmination of the voting experience. However, after the
polls close on election day, there is an entire process that takes
place. Every election night, election results that are displayed are
unofficial. They are unofficial because of the vote by mail process.
The county clerk has 14 days to accept any vote by mail ballots that
are returned post marked by election day. If the clerk receives
ballots that are post marked after election day, they are not
counted. After the 14 days have expired, the clerk has 10 days to
certify the official election results to the State.

			 Currently, the unofficial results
are posted on our website for the public to view. Each valid
candidate is displayed with their own total ballots cast. The
exception of candidates displayed would be write-in candidates.
Thosecandidates’ unofficial results are displayed on our website
separately. The results also display a total of ballots cast within
each race. The total ballots cast may not be equivalent to the
individual ballot cast totals among the valid candidates. Voters
have the freedom to choose to vote for any or all valid candidates
on their ballot. The ballot cast total is the number of voters who
voted within that precinct not within a particular race. For
example, one precinct has two candidates running in a particular
race. One candidate received 10 votes and the other received 15
votes. The total ballots cast were 30. There were 5 voters who
decided not to vote for that race but cast a ballot.

Many candidates are printed on the ballot because they filed
nominating petitions and caucus certificates of nomination with the
appropriate local election official. There are some candidates that
are not printed on the ballot; however, can be considered as valid
candidates due to filing a Declaration to be a Write-In within the
appropriate filing period. Those candidates are described as
write-in candidates. To vote for a valid write-in candidate, a voter
is required to color in the oval and write the candidate’s name on
the line provided. The voter would not need to spell the candidates
name correctly but would have needed to show intention in writing
			the candidates’ name.

If a race has two valid candidates
that received the same number of votes, no action is taken until the
14 days of unofficial results has expired. Once the 14 days are
over, each valid candidate will be given notice by the Logan County
Clerk. They will be notified of the tie break procedure and asked to
attend the proceedings. If a candidate involved does not attend, it
does not impact the outcome of those proceedings.
In our office, we hope and anticipate for 100% voter turnout! We
understand that has rarely, if ever, happened. However, I have been
disappointed by the voter turnout with this year’s elections. Our
county has very passionate and motivated residents. Your vote is
your voice! We hope that future election turnouts will trend upward.
Every election brings its own set of questions and concerns. As your
Election Authority, I would like to invite all voters to contact me
directly with their questions or concerns. My door is open, and I
would be delighted to speak with you. If you are interested in the
voting process and would like to get involved, please let me know!
My hope is that Logan County will continue to remain passionate
about elections and speak with their vote.
 Sincerely,
 THERESA MOORE
 Logan County Election Authority
