Open Arms Church holds annual
Easter Egg hunt
[April 28, 2025]
At the Open Arms Easter Egg
hunt Saturday, April 26, over 10,000 eggs were laid out in separate
sections for three different age groups.
The sections were set out for
children from age 2 to pre-K, kindergarten through 2nd grade, and
3rd through 5th grade with each age group being released to find
eggs at a different time.

With several other events going on
this weekend, the event had fewer kid than many years. However, Open
Arms Pastor Larry Crawford still felt there was a good turnout.

The event took months of planning,
but setting out the eggs took less than an hour and kids scrambled
to fill their baskets with eggs in minutes.
Many volunteers were needed to fill the eggs with candy. Several had
slips of paper that could be turned in for special prizes.

Families gathered around the caution tape surrounding the areas
where the eggs were set out and anxiously waited for the event to
begin. Lara O’Donoghue who is the children’s pastor at Open Arms did
a countdown for each area and then caution tape was taken down and
kids scrambled to get all the eggs they could in their basket.

Once kid’s baskets were full some of
them were stuffing eggs into their jacket or hoodie pockets. Some
who had filled their basket with eggs were kindly helping others
fill their baskets.

The Easter Bunny was also there
walking around greeting kids and posing for photos once the hunt was
done.
Children and their parents went through the baskets to find candy
and see if there was paper showing they had won a special prize.

The young hunters and gatherers could
then take the paper to table set up outside the Chapel to redeem
their prizes. Special prizes included full size candy bars $5 bills
a large Easter basket. In addition, one child in each age group won
a bicycle.
With the nice sunny weather, it was a great day for kids to be out
finding eggs and a great community outreach held by Open Arms.
