Open Horse Show at the Logan County Fair

[August 04, 2025]  A lovely Saturday morning greeted eventers and spectators at the Logan County Fair Open Horse Show on August 2. An arena area was plowed in the field next to the race track on the fairgrounds to create eventing space for horse and rider to compete. Classes included Western Showmanship, Horse Halter, Walk-Trot, Ranch Walk-Trot, Western Pleasure, Poles, Ranch Pleasure, Barrels, Flags, and Plug. There was also a special class– Walk and Favorite Gait– open only to Logan County residents. Classes were organized by age of rider and later by age of horse. The Open Horse Show superintendent was Julie McKinney with Ring Assistant Gene Schmidt. The show was announced by Shirley Kavanaugh.

The Open Horse Show brought many gorgeous horses and bedazzled Western shirts to the fairgrounds, but the crowd favorite had to be the darling duo of little Renley on miniature horse Peaches. Assisted by older, taller family members, Renley bounced and giggled her way through the trots, poles, and barrels. It had to be just as much fun to watch team Renley and Peaches as it was for them to compete, unfazed by a lost boot or listing saddle. Congratulations to all riders for a beautiful show!
