[August 30, 2025]
State Senator Sally Turner (R-Beason)
and State Representative Regan Deering (R-Decatur) are inviting area
families to join them for a free Youth Fishing Derby at Weldon
Springs State Park in Clinton on Saturday, September 6, from 10 a.m.
to noon.
“I am excited to join Representative Deering in welcoming families
to Weldon Springs State Park for a day of fun, fishing, and
community,” said Senator Turner. “This event is a great opportunity
for kids to enjoy the outdoors and learn about conservation.”
The event is open to children of all ages, and no fishing license
will be required. Attendees can enjoy free admission, free
refreshments, and the opportunity to win prizes. The Illinois
Department of Natural Resources and Illinois Conservation Police
will also be on hand to assist.
“This event will be a great way to connect with the youth living in
the 88th District and show them one of the beautiful state parks
Illinois has to offer,” said Representative Deering. “I am happy to
co-host the Fishing Derby with Senator Turner, and I encourage
