Cardinals beat Hilltoppers 62-60 in overtime

[December 04, 2025]  The Mount Pulaski Hilltoppers were so close to beating a top-ranked Class 2A school on Tuesday night but instead had to settle for a gut-wrenching 62-60 overtime loss to the Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals.

Mount Pulaski led the game through three quarters, making the loss sting a bit more.

With Keoni Charron, Aaron Volle and Eric Cooper hitting 3s in the first quarter, they helped lead Mount Pulaski to a 14-13 lead.

Charron tossed in two more 3s in the second quarter to lead Mount Pulaski in scoring. Mount Pulaski was on top 29-26 at the half.

Franklin Wade was on fire in the third quarter, scoring 12 points and Mount Pulaski had a 48-40 lead.

The Cardinals exploded in the fourth quarter, outscoring Mount Pulaski 14-6 and that threw the two teams into overtime, tied at 54 apiece.

The Cardinals edged Mount Pulaski 62-60 in overtime.

Franklin Wade led Mount Pulaski with 20 points.

Eric Cooper tossed in 15 points and Keoni Charron was a huge factor with 14 points.

Mount Pulaski evens their season record at 2-2.

The Cardinals won the JV game 58-25 over Mount Pulaski.

The Hilltoppers will host Riverton on Friday night.

The JV game will tip-off at 6:00 p.m.

The Varsity game will start at 7:30 p.m.
