Elkhart Holiday Tree Lighting
Celebration canceled due to winter weather

Elkhart, IL – The Village of
Elkhart has made the difficult decision to cancel the Annual Holiday
Tree Lighting Celebration scheduled for Friday, December 5, 2025, at
Veterans’ Park. The heavy snowfall, accumulating ice, and unsafe
conditions pose significant safety concerns for residents,
volunteers, and families planning to attend.
“With the amount of snow and ice, we cannot ensure the safety of our
community,” event organizers said. “While we are disappointed to
cancel a cherished tradition, the well-being of our residents must
come first.”
The Village appreciates everyone’s understanding and hopes to
welcome the community back for future seasonal gatherings when
conditions are safe.
