Hartsburg breakfast with Santa and The Grinch
benefits future Founder’s Day events

[December 09, 2025]  With the warmer weather Saturday, December 6, many families ventured out to enjoy a delicious breakfast and visit Santa Claus and the Grinch.

Inside the Hartsburg Legion Hall, members of the Hartsburg Founder’s Day
committee served a pancake and sausage breakfast plus hot chocolate, coffee and water.

Tables were set up with bake sale items such as a variety of cookies, cinnamon rolls, banana bread, ranch oyster crackers and Hershey’s kiss pretzels.

Hartsburg Mayor Darien Ritterbush said it is an annual event that pulls in many people. From year to year, a great group of volunteers help put this event together. He was excited to add the Grinch this year.

In front of a green and red backdrop sat Santa and Mrs. Claus ready to greet the children and see what they wanted for Christmas. After children sat on Santa’s lap, Santa gave them a goodie bag full of treats. Both children and their parents posed with Santa for photos.

When the mean old Grinch showed up, Santa tied him up with a rope and put him in a corner. A child soon untied him. Later, he had a snowball fight with some children.

Several children also got temporary Grinch tattoos.

The breakfast lasted until 11 a.m. with several children coming to see both Santa and the Grinch.

Throughout the morning, many people came in to enjoy breakfast, visit Santa and the Grinch and buy baked goods.
