Lincolnland Technical Education Center
(LTEC), in partnership with the Lincoln Rotary Club, is proud to
recognize Brayden Billington, a senior at Lincoln Community High
School, as the December Student of the Month.
Brayden, the son of Jackie and Jeremy Billington, was nominated by
Mr. Jay Akers, instructor of the Advanced Metals program. Mr. Akers
selected him for this honor because he exemplifies the qualities of
a dedicated and respectful student. "He has always been a model
student," Akers shared. "He is polite, courteous, gets along well
with the instructors and peers, and he always does what is asked of
him. He buckles down and constructively puts his time into his
craft."
Brayden chose the Advance Metals program as part of his search for a
career path after high school. His interest in welding began during
his freshman year when he took the introductory welding class and
quickly discovered he enjoyed the hands-on nature of the work. After
graduating, he plans to attend trade school to earn his welding
certification and hopes to pursue a future in travel welding. He
also looks forward to learning financial skiHs, including how to
manage money, as he prepares for his career. '•
In addition to his coursework, Brayden works two jobs. At Ace
Hardware, he serves as a floor salesperson, assisting customers and
supporting store operations. At Graue Chevrolet, he assists the
staff by filling propane tanks, preparing vehicles for test drives,
and placing plates and sale tags on cars.

When asked what he
enjoys most about his LTEC experience, Brayden highlighted the
value of persistence and hands-on learning. "With every bead you
lay or arc you strike, there's also something to learn about and
improve on, no matter how many times you do it," he said. He
appreciates the opportunity to see firsthand that practice truly
makes perfect.
Outside of school and work, he enjoys working on cars, playing
video games, and fishing.
As Student of the Month, Brayden will receive a $50 award
sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lincoln.
LTEC and the Rotary Club congratulate Brayden on his hard work,
strong character, and commitment to his future.
