Choosing ten favorite photos from the second quarter of 2024 was entrusted to LDN Advertising Sales Associate Chassidy White.

Chassidy’s choices show her wide range of interests but also show her focus on young people as well as all the good things that happen in our community.

Among her choices are Kloe Froebe, co-worker Devyn Fry with her pub Bella, the lovely new mural on the city’s west side, and a photo from the retirement of New Holland-Middletown School teacher Jeffy Neisler, who was one of Chassidy’s teachers that made a large impression on her life.

04/23/2024 - Kloe Froebe is quickly approaching the end of her time at Lincoln Community High School. The senior will graduate in May and this fall will attend college in Colorado.

As she wraps up her high school career, she is also wrapping up an amazing girls high school basketball career that has earned her the title of Ms. Basketball for the 2023-24 season.

04/30/2024 - Last Thursday Lincoln Community High School hosted the largest college sport signing event in its history. Twenty-six seniors signed their letters of intent, 23 to play college sports this fall and three who are entering into service to our country in a variety of military branches.

05/02/2024 - On Tuesday, students at West Lincoln-Broadwell School in Lincoln had a fun day creating slime that will be sold and the money raised donated to Forget Me Not Ministries for at risk children in Romania. The slime day was hosted by the school in partnership with “Look out for the left out,” an organization started by Calla Woods.

The same year Calla started her fundraising organization she was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer. Her battle lasted only eight weeks. After she passed, her parents took up her mission and carry it on today.

05/11/2024 - Were you outside Friday night, and if you were did you notice the Northern Lights?

It is uncommon for this phenomenon
to show itself in Central Illinois, so getting to watch the colors dancing across the sky was quite the treat.

06/03/2024 - If you traverse Broadway Street past the Logan County Safety Complex be sure to check out the American Legion Memorial. While the backdrop of stones has always been there, they had grown dingy and dark and did not stand out as they do today. The stones have been thoroughly cleaned and there are new components that have been added to the area.

06/11/2024 - 2024 Pride Fest - Devyn Fry and her decorated dog Bella

06/17/2024 - There is something new and amazing happening on the west side of the Lincoln, a mural privately commissioned by Lucky Singh is being painted on the east end of the Beverage Genie building that is getting a lot of attention even though according to the muralists is far from finished.

The mural features the bust of a presidential Abraham Lincoln with a symbolic background that speaks to the unity of our country, our fierce independence, and the meager beginnings of the 16th president of the United States.
