Blind Awareness Fair to inspire and empower

Springfield, IL – The
Educational Center for the Visually Impaired (ECVI) invites the
community to its annual Blind Awareness Fair, a vibrant celebration
of resilience, inclusion and possibility.
Saturday, September 13
Southwind Park
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Whether you're sighted or visually impaired, this hands-on event
offers meaningful ways to connect, learn and have fun. Attendees
will experience:
• Free kites and flight demos
• Obstacle course team challenge
• A fun .01K race – yes, you read that right!
• Live archery demo by ECVI’s own Blind Bowman
• Tandem bike rides
• A food truck with snacks and refreshments
Evelyn Brandt Thomas, Springfield Mayor Misty Buscher and Illinois
State Representative Mike Coffey will help us officially kick off
the festivities at 10 a.m.

Since 2014, ECVI has been a beacon of support and empowerment for
individuals across Central Illinois who are blind or visually
impaired. With expanded services now reaching Decatur and Lincoln,
ECVI continues to ensure that no one faces vision loss alone.

able to drive, read a recipe, an email or the subtitles on your
favorite show,” says Peggy Dyson, ECVI executive director. “Our
services provide free personalized education and training for
people who struggle to see the world they live in. We take their
perceptions of what seems impossible and make them possible. “
ECVI’s personalized programs are free to participants and are
