Humane Society preview night
brings in possibly the largest crowd ever
[June 06, 2025]
When the checkout line at your
garage sale extends half the length of your building, you surely
have to conclude that you’re doing something right. That was the
case Thursday evening at the annual Humane Society of Logan County
Garage Sale at the Logan County Fairgrounds.

The sale began at 4 p.m. and just
before 5 p.m., volunteer Roger Matson announced that the 100th
customer had just paid their preview fee. At that point in time,
there was more than two hours left in the sale, and anticipation was
high that the number would far exceed the 100-mark by the end of the
night.

Inside the large barn, people were
almost shoulder to shoulder in almost every aisle. And indeed there
were plenty of items to shop from and many people were gathering up
arm loads full of bargain basement priced merchandise.

The sale continues today (Friday, June 6th) as well as Saturday,
and fear not, no matter how many people came in on Thursday
there is so much being offered that there is sure to be plenty
left for weekend shoppers.
Those who are very familiar with this
sale know that it is typically held in conjunction with the Route 66
Grage Sale weekend. This year however, the decision was made to hold
the HSLC garage sale one week ahead of the Route 66. The thought was
that with just one massive garage sale to attend, the HSLC would
have more shoppers than if they were one of several sales going on
at the same time. By the looks of the Thursday night crowd it was a
pretty good decision.
If you didn’t make it out Thursday evening, be sure to put it on
your to do list for Friday or Saturday. The doors open at 8:30 a.m.
and conclude at 3 p.m. on both days.
All the items offered in the sale were donated to the HSLC with all
proceeds from the sale going to the upkeep and care of the no-kill
shelter and its residents in Lincoln.
