Joshua Pharis announces candidacy
for office of Logan County Sheriff

LDN neither endorses nor denounces any candidate running for public
office in Logan County.
Saturday morning, June 14, 2025, a large crowd of
supporters gathered on the lawn of the Mt Pulaski Courthouse to hear
Joshua Pharis formally announce his run for the office of Logan
County Sheriff.
Prior to the 11 a.m. announcement, guests mingled on
the lawn with Pharis networking throughout the crowd speaking with
supporters. A table of sweets along with a donation box was set up
and guests enjoyed cookies and brownies courtesy of the candidate.
At 11 a.m. Pharis was accompanied to the top of the
courthouse steps by Ryan Anderson who introduced the candidate.
Anderson spoke of his personal years of service
beside Pharis as a Logan County Deputy, noting the honesty and
integrity of the candidate and Pharis’ ability as a potential leader
of the department.

With the introduction completed, Pharis moved to the
podium to address the crowd.

Pharis spoke of his service in Mt. Pulaski, his
service as a School Resource Officer in the county and his years of
service in the Sheriff’s department. He identified his concerns for
the county including a continual need to crack down on drug use and
trade in the community. He spoke of understanding and using
appropriate compassion when dealing with suspects who are in mental
crisis. He said that he would work to achieve trust and safety for
the community and instill in his constituent’s confidence in the
sheriff’s department through transparency and accountability.

After the announcement, Pharis opened the podium for
questions from the crowd, then a call went out for a group photo of
those in attendance. Everyone gathered on the steps of the
courthouse for that photo.
