Updated imaging technology now
available at Lincoln Memorial Hospital

LINCOLN – Lincoln residents
will be able to access a higher level of imaging services close to
home thanks to upgrades underway this summer at Lincoln Memorial
Hospital.
The nearly $1.5 million investment includes new magnetic resonance
imaging (MRI) equipment that allows more detailed imaging of the
breast and prostate for cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment.
“For patients, this means shorter scan times and the highest image
quality available,” said Kelly Bailey, manager of radiology at LMH.
LMH Imaging provides a wide range of services, including computed
tomography (CT), nuclear medicine, ultrasound, vascular studies,
mammography, bone density scans and X-ray. In July, the department
will open a new X-ray room that will enable them to provide
scoliosis exams – a service that patients previously had to travel
out of town to obtain.
The goal of the upgrades is to increase the level of diagnostic
capabilities at LMH. Further renovations during the coming months
will also allow LMH to perform cardiac MRI exams, which are used to
diagnose heart conditions and evaluate heart function.
Bailey said that patients with a physician order for imaging
services are typically able to get an appointment at LMH much more
quickly than they would at out-of-town imaging facilities. The
hospital even offers walk-in mammograms for patients who have a
physician order from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
“People appreciate that this is a convenient, easily accessible
facility,” she said, noting that parking is available close to the
building. Staff meet patients in the lobby and escort them to the
imaging department.

“Investing in our
imaging equipment is also an investment in our community,” said
Dolan Dalpoas, LMH president and CEO. “We know many patients
prefer to get the care they need close to home, without the
stress of having to travel to a larger facility. This helps us
meet that need and increases the capabilities of our talented
imaging staff and radiologists.”
