At the Tuesday, March 18th regular meeting of the Logan County Board, there were enough people in attendance that the first floor courtroom where the meeting is normally held was too small. Therefore everyone was asked to adjourn into the third floor courtroom which has recently been finished after severe storms in late April 2019 damaged the roof and caused a collapse of the ceiling in the courtroom.

That incident is what precipitated the entire restoration project for the Logan County Courthouse.

For those who had not seen the finished product some of the most notable differences are the lack of wood paneling that darkened the room, and the jury box has been relocated to the other side of the room.

What does remain that is significant is the antique seating in the gallery. The seats, though perhaps not as comfortable as some, feature the wire racks on the bottom of the seats that was used as a holder for the men’s top hats.

The county board will host a special regular meeting tonight, Tuesday, March 25th with expectations that there will be a large number of people in attendance. Therefore that meeting will also be hosted in the third floor courtroom.

The meeting will commence at 6 p.m. with the primary topics to be the county’s employee insurance coverage and the Logan County Broadband project.  These are topics that were also discussed in a special Finance Committee Meeting on Monday evening.
