Eminence Christian Church holds 2025 Veterans Breakfast

[November 04, 2025]  On Saturday, November 1st, a breakfast for military veterans was held at Eminence Christian Church in Atlanta. This breakfast, which marks its ten-year anniversary this year, started at 9:00 a.m. and consisted of many delicious items. The veterans were served waffles, bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy, fruit, and coffee.

The room had several long tables set next to each other, with people getting a plate and having a seat. There were miniature military flags set out as decorations on the tables and music was being played over speakers. Everyone was having a great time and great conversation.

People went up to the front, grabbed a tray and plate, and then were served their food. People in the kitchen served the veterans, offering a hearty amount. After people had finished eating, servers would come over, offering to get people seconds and taking away their trash when they were finished. The service was excellent, as several people present mentioned.

Once breakfast had been served and everyone had eaten the songs “God Bless the USA,” and “God Bless America” were played.

Breakfast organizers Charlotte and Michael Horath asked all the veterans to stand and share their name, branch of service, and anything else they wanted to. Many veterans in the room, including Michael himself, shared some, including when they served and what conflict or war they served in. Some of the veterans thanked one another for their service, and there was a clear respect and admiration in the air.

Next, the Horaths handed out pins to all the veterans present. Charlotte also had two awards to hand out. The first was to the Marine Corps League, represented by Gene Hickey, for their help organizing and putting on the veterans breakfast from year to year. The second award was to Marsha Fernandes of the Central Illinois Veterans Commission. Fernandes was the person who founded the Eminence Veterans Breakfast back in 2015. The conclusion of the awards also marked the conclusion of the breakfast.
