Lady Railers win season opener
51-41 over Saints
New head coach Cory
Farmer notches win no. 1
[November 19, 2025]
It’s a new era for the Lincoln Lady Railer basketball program
as Cory Farmer has taken over as the head coach after a number of
seasons as an assistant under Taylor Rohrer. Coach Farmer is joined
by assistants Brad Schneider and Kameron Whiteman and together the
trio have the Lady Railers in the win column to start the season.
On Tuesday night the Lincoln JV team started things off really well
by beating the Bloomington Central Catholic Saints by double-digits
on their home court.
The final score was 54-33 as a trio of young talent led the Lady
Railers in scoring: Grace Bivin (16), Paisley Holmes (14) and
Elizabeth Chen (13).
The Lincoln Varsity team followed up with a nice 51-41 win over the
Saints. A trio of Lady Railers scored in double-figures here too:
Mia Clark (17), Grace Bivin (10) and Grace Schneider (10).
The New Era
For the tip-off on Tuesday night in the Varsity game the four Lady
Railer seniors, Mia Clark, Grace Schneider, Mesa McCloud and Lily
Holmes, were joined by junior Grey Gilbert in the starting lineup.
Holmes jumped center and with the ball tossed in the air, the
2025-26 season was officially underway.
First Quarter
The Saints struck first, scoring a three in just over two minutes
into the game. From there the Lady Railers took a 9-5 lead as Mia
Clark sank the first two 3s for Lincoln and followed with a
two-point field goal. Lily Holmes also tossed in a free throw.
Freshmen Paisley Holmes and Grace Bivin entered the game near the
halfway mark of the quarter for Lincoln. Clark kept Lincoln on top
12-7 with another three. After the Saints tied the game 12-12, Bivin
got her first Varsity points of her high school career on a basket
in the lane with :24 left. She gave the Lady Railers a 14-12 lead
that held up when the first quarter expired.
Second Quarter
Scoring started a bit slow in the second quarter for each team, but
after a bucket to tie by the Saints it was Bivin again pouring in a
basket for the 16-14 lead. The Saints took over the lead on a three
but then it was Bivin on the nice assist to Grey Gilbert to put
Lincoln back on top. Back-to-back 3s by the Saints led the charge
towards a 23-19 lead for the home team. After Clark’s floater in the
lane with :19 left dropped in for two points, the Lady Railers found
themselves down at the half 23-21.

Third Quarter
Mesa McCloud started the third quarter scoring by hitting
back-to-back 3s for Lincoln. Her first one fell in from one corner
at the 7:10 mark and a minute later she swished another one from the
opposite corner, giving Lincoln a 27-23 lead. After buckets by Grace
Schneider and Lily Holmes, the Lady Railers remained in front 31-25.
Bivin preserved the Lincoln lead with a nice move in the lane for
two points near the 2:45 mark. However, Lincoln’s 33-29 lead
disappeared when the Saints tied the game after a field goal and a
couple free throws. Schneider put the team back on top with a basket
in the paint only to have the Saints tie it once again on free
throws seconds later. It was up to Paisley Holmes to put Lincoln
back in front. Holmes made her first Varsity points on a bucket in
the lane with :34 left in the third quarter to give Lincoln a 37-35
lead. She would also make a free throw as the quarter was closing
that allowed Lincoln a 38-35 lead.

Fourth Quarter
Clark hit a three to open the fourth quarter and stretch the lead to
41-35. Bivin and Schneider took care of the rest of the scoring in
the quarter while the entire team played well and stayed in control.
Bivin gave Lincoln a ten-point lead at the 2:13 mark, 47-37 the
score. Schneider was 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the final
minute and this helped to seal the 51-41 win.
It was definitely a good start to the season and with opening night
jitters a thing of the past, look for more great things to come from
these Lady Railer teams.
