LCHS Class of 1970 presents class memorial bench to the Lincoln Park District

[November 21, 2025]  On Tuesday November 18, 2025 The Lincoln Community High School Class of 1970 presented a class memorial bench to the Lincoln Park District. Historically the LCHS classes, on presenting a gift from their class will present their monument, bench, financial gift to the High School. The 1970 class of LCHS was a very wholesome, vibrant class who made their high school memories at ‘The REC’. The 1970 class was one of the first classes to enjoy the new REC when it moved from it’s downtown location to the site next to the High school. The REC, under the management of Hap Jacobson, had a youth advisory Board. Classmate, Gary Maxey, was the representative who arranged to have ‘REO Speedwagon’ play 3 x 45 minute sets for $350.00. The 1970s dances also included 'Head East' and was entertained by WLS DJ Larry Lujack in the ballroom at ‘The REC’

The committee members of the LCHS Class of 70 presented their bench to current Executive Director, Becky Strait, who was thrilled to learn about the history of the Lincoln Park District.

The bench was made by Wes Woodhall and donated to the Emblem Club 'GALA' to support food baskets, Happy Feet and academic scholarships. The Class of 70 has given back to their community by purchasing the bench!!
