Macarthur pummels Lincoln 61-20
[October 04, 2025]
DECATUR – With apologies to Slim Shady, will the real Railer
football team please stand up?
In their September 26 win over Eisenhower, the Railers finished
plays, ran with purpose and showed a passion on the field in a 33-20
victory, Lincoln’s first of the season.
A week later, in last night’s game at Macarthur, the Generals
dominated every facet of the game in handing Lincoln a 61-20 loss.
“When we watched last week’s game, our guys ran really hard and
things like that,” said Lincoln coach Matt Silkowski after the game.
“Then we got here tonight, and it was the complete opposite.”
The game didn’t start out the best for Lincoln, as Macarthur ran the
opening kickoff to the Lincoln 35-yard line. One play later, the
Generals had their first touchdown of the night when Cayden Brown
scored the first of his four touchdowns to give Macarthur an early
lead.
The opening drive by the Railers looked promising. Lincoln notched a
first down during the possession on its longest pass play of the
night, an 11 yard connection from Logan Davenport to Kaeden
Wilkerson. The drive stalled when Lincoln fumbled and lost
possession, the first of five Railer turnovers on the night.
Although Macarthur moved the ball downfield, Lincoln’s defense kept
the Generals out of the end zone on a 1st-and-goal situation from
the Railer 10-yard line. On the first two plays, the Lincoln D-line
denied the Generals from scoring. On third down, a bad snap pushed
Macarthur out to the 15-yard line. The Railer defense held as a
fourth down pass attempt by the Generals was incomplete.
The play could have swung the momentum in Lincoln’s favor, but the
Railers were unable to move the ball on the next possession and
punted. But Lincoln’s defense stopped Macarthur, so the Generals
punted back to Lincoln. The Railers again couldn’t move the ball,
and Lincoln punted from near midfield. But the Railer special teams
turned in a fantastic play, as Quinten Mead hustled downfield to
slap the ball away from the end zone and giving Macarthur a
touchback. On Mead’s heels was teammate Gavin Eales, who snagged the
loose ball and downed in on the 3-yard line.

Tate Whitted
The Lincoln defense took its turn in swinging the momentum to the
Railers, as Macarthur had an errant snap on its second play of the
drive. The loose ball bounded on the turf of the end zone before
Lincoln’s Tate Whitted pounced on it, securing the ball for a Railer
touchdown. The PAT was good by Lucas Melton, and Lincoln tied the
game at 7-all.

Unfortunately for the Railers, any momentum built by that sequence
quickly returned to the Generals. Just over one minute later, Cayden
Brown scored his second touchdown of the night, this time on a
7-yard scamper to the end zone for Macarthur. The PAT made the score
14-7 in favor of the Generals.
The score was the first of five consecutive touchdowns before
intermission in extending the lead to 41-7 for the Generals. Brown
tallied two more, and Macarthur’s defense added a pair on an
interception return and a fumble recovery, both returned for
touchdowns.

Quentin Mead
Macarthur added another touchdown on a 1-yard run by Jamor Singleton
to open the third quarter scoring and push the lead beyond 35 points
to force a running clock. While the Railers got a pair of touchdowns
in the second half—a 5-yard run by Lucas Melton and a 3-yard run by
Quentin Mead—the Generals were in control the rest of the way.
Macarthur won 61-20.

“All around, [it was] not a very good night,” Silkowski said after
the game. “Multiple times we had 10 players on the field. I feel
like, when our guys had the ball, we were just kind of going through
the motions with no running with a sense of urgency or running
through tackles. Just not a very good night at all.”
According to unofficial statistics, Macarthur outgained the Railers
265-158 in total offensive yards. Seth Durbin led Lincoln with 73
yards rushing. Jacob Long added 35, Lucas Melton compiled 32,
Quinten Mead tallied 21 and Paxton Lora chipped in with 15.
Lincoln returns home October 10 for a 7 PM game against Glenwood on
senior night.
