Nourish Logan County announces event to benefit food pantries in Lincoln

[October 21, 2025]  NOURISH LOGAN COUNTY, an affiliation of churches, organizations and businesses, will host a series of events from November 1-8, 2025, to rally the community to address food access and needs and to increase resources for local food pantries, including Holy Family Food Pantry, Oasis Food Pantry, Jefferson Street Christian Church Food Pantry, Salvation Army Food Pantry, Lincoln Logan County Food Pantry.

The highlight of the week will be a concert featuring popular singer CHRIS VALLILLO who will perform his program, “The Farmer is the Man,” at The Oasis at 7pm on November 8. Free hot dogs and snacks will be provided at 6pm. Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for Oasis members and children 12. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at The Oasis during their regular hours and at the First Presbyterian Church office (entrance on Ottawa Street next to the Junior High School) Tuesday – Friday from 8:30am to 1:30pm.

Chris Vallillo is a singer/songwriter and roots musician who celebrates the people and places of rural America in song. Having spent the last 30 years in the Midwest, he has a natural affinity for American roots music. A master of finger style and bottleneck slide guitar, Vallillo weaves original, contemporary, and traditional songs and narratives into a compelling and entertaining portrait of farming history and lifestyles, highlighting the hardworking people who are the backbone of rural America. The concert is sponsored by Heartland Bank & Trust and LMH, Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Other events during the week include:

• Tuesday, November 4, Coffee & Chocolate, 10:30am – noon. Lincoln Public Library. Hosted by the Library, Lincoln Women’s Club, and Ink & Imprint. Enjoy delicious complimentary chocolate treats and specialty coffee in a beautiful historic setting. Free.

• Wednesday, November 5, Trivia Night, 7-9pm. Spirited Republic. Join us for Spirited’s traditional trivia night and test your food knowledge with special 60-second trivia challenges. Prizes! Cost of drinks only.

• Thursday, November 6, Family Game Night, 5:30-7pm. The Guest House Coffee & Pastries. Fun for the whole family! Board games and more! Cost of food/drinks only.

• Friday, November 7, First Friday Fish Fry. The Eagles Lodge. Cost of dinner only.

NOURISH LOGAN COUNTY will collect unexpired food items and household supplies at each of these events. Bring your donations to be entered into drawings for door prizes! All items are accepted, but specifically requested items include: FOOD (peanut butter & jelly, pancake mix & syrup, macaroni & cheese, applesauce, saltine crackers, SpaghettiOs, soup, and cereal. HOUSEHOLD (paper towels, toilet paper, body wash, laundry soap, dish soap, cleaning supplies). Drop-off locations between November 1-8 are: The Guest House, Top Hat Creamery, Prairie Threads, The Bee, First Presbyterian Church, Spirited Republic, Lincoln Public Library, USA Mortgage, Ink & Imprint, the Eagles Lodge, or The Oasis Senior Center.
Raffle tickets for a variety of exciting prizes will be for sale at each event during the week. Drawing will be held on November 8. You need not be present to win.
